I was pleased to see the positive news contained in the 2012 Annual Plan from Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority. Merseyside’s recycling level is still increasing, and is currently at 36.9%. It is also positive that the amount of waste has fallen by over 50 kilograms per households per year. I was also delighted to see that £20,000 had been distributed to local groups and schools for environmental projects, as well as a number of schemes to encourage waste prevention. I’m pleased to see MRWA commit to finding new and creative ways to encourage recycling in the future, and I look forward to continuing to work with them, Liverpool City Council, and others to deliver their vision of Merseyside being a place where nothing is wasted.
