I was delighted to attend the opening of the new cardiovascular research unit at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. The opening ceremony was carried out by Dame Carol Black, Chair of the Institute of Cardiovascular Medicine and Science. The unit is a unique collaboration that Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital have developed with the Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust.
Over the past few years, the research activity undertaken at Broadgreen has grown in size through developments such as the Institute of Cardiovascular Medicine and Science. We can also anticipate further significant growth.
This is a really crucial development for the research ambitions of Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. Leading the way in research activities will bring about improvements in diagnoses and treatments for generations to come, and it is fantastic that this work is being undertaken locally.
