On my visit to Brighton and Hove I visited the Brighton Oasis Project, where I met with staff and service users. I learnt about the importance of long-term support for those recovering from addiction, and the value of providing childcare, food and group activities in supporting service users.
I spoke to students at Brighton, Hove and Sussex Sixth Form College about my role. I also took questions about mental health. It was fantastic to meet a group of young people so engaged with the world around them, and to hear their ideas about how schools and colleges can support them.
Finally, I joined staff and service users at the Lighthouse Recovery Project. This service provides a therapeutic environment and comprehensive community programme for people with personality disorders. It was great to see and learn from an example of best practice.
